Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an X post, mocked the Congress party for its failure to secure a single seat in the Legislative Council Elections in four states despite the use of ballot paper
NEW DELHI: “Guess how many seats Congress won?” asked PM Narendra Modi Wednesday, turning to biting sarcasm — and adding a playful emoji to boot — to rip into the opposition party as it stared at a rout in the MLC elections held through ballot papers for 28 seats across four states.“MLC elections in 28 seats across 4 big states — Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar and Karnataka. Elections held using ballot papers. Guess how many seats Congress won?” Modi said on X.It was at once a taunt that underscored Congress’s continuing troubles and a rebuke to the opposition party’s claim that BJP's successes are because of the manipulation of EVMs and electoral rolls.
What added to Congress’s embarrassment was that it was swept aside on all four seats in Karnataka, where it is in office, by BJP-JDS combine. As the results emerged, with counting for some seats still on , BJP president Nitin Nabin also emphasised that Congress had drawn a blank. People have decisively rejected its anarchic politics, he added. The results brought a mix of relief and joy to BJP as Congress and its allies have hit the streets and planned a campaign to win over people through their charge that EC has fixed the SIR of electoral rolls to BJP’s advantage.
