Ukraine attacks Moscow region with 650 drones as both sides step up strikes

Translate

A massive attack involving 650 drones targeted Moscow overnight, killing a man, Russian authorities said on Tuesday.

Most of the drones were destroyed by air defences at long range, including 105 intercepted as they approached the capital, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin wrote on Telegram. Russian state news agency Tass reported it was the second-largest drone attack on the capital region in the past two years.

The attack killed a 20-year-old man and wounded six others in a village on the outskirts of Moscow, regional governor Andrei Vorobyov and state news agency RIA Novosti reported, adding that several homes were damaged.

Both Ukraine and Russia have stepped up long-range strikes in recent months on civilian and industrial targets, including energy, transport and port infrastructure, as well as ships in the Black Sea.
