DC Unveils First Look At Its New Catwoman

The 2020s have been a phenomenal decade for Catwoman so far, with the character getting unprecedented screen and page time, proving she's more than Batman’s love interest and can draw audiences on her own. Now, DC has confirmed that the Gotham Siren’s epic run is set to continue, revealing a first look at its new Catwoman.
If you haven’t been keeping up with all things DC, then you may be unaware of just how awesome the last six, nearly seven, years have been for this legacy character. Some of her most notable appearances and projects of the 2020s include Zoë Kravitz’s exceptional portrayal of the character in The Batman (2022) alongside Robert Pattinson’s Batman, Catwoman’s ongoing comic title, which is now an impressive 91 issues deep, Selina claiming her own ongoing solo title in DC’s best-selling Absolute line (Absolute Catwoman), and so much more.
These projects have offered fans unique interpretations of the character, each set in different continuities while contributing to Catwoman’s ever-expanding legacy. Now, thanks to DC’s early December 2026 solicitations, we have confirmation that Catwoman is about to join another best-selling DC continuity: Tom Taylor and Otto Schmidt’s Dark Knights of Steel II.
First Look At Catwoman’s Dark Knights of Steel Redesign

The original series, Dark Knights of Steel (2021–2023), was written by Tom Taylor with art by Yasmine Putri and reimagined the DC Universe and its most iconic characters in a high-fantasy world. The series returned in 2025 with Dark Knights of Steel II, with Taylor once again writing the series, this time joined by artist Otto Schmidt.
Over the course of the original series, the Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter spin-off, and now the official sequel, dozens of DC’s most iconic characters have made their debuts in this alternate universe. Now, DC’s official solicitation for the upcoming December 16, 2026, release of Dark Knights of Steel II #6 has confirmed that Catwoman will finally be joining the narrative.
The official synopsis for the issue reads: “On the hunt for former Commander of the El Kingdom Amanda Waller, Prince Bruce finds himself tangled up with the mysterious and beautiful thief who engineered the jailbreak.. Meanwhile, a freshly crowned King Victor Falcone seeks a dangerous new alliance with the vicious tyrant beneath the waves…”
While Dark Knights of Steel has a reputation for delivering wild reimaginings of the relationships between its characters compared to the relationships those same characters share in the main universe, it seems that the relationship between Batman and Catwoman is set to remain largely the same, with the two playing the role of love interests to each other. However, we won’t know for sure until the issue releases.
In addition to the synopsis, Yasmine Putri’s main cover and Aka’s variant cover for the issue give us our first look at Catwoman’s Dark Knights of Steel redesign, and it is nothing short of perfect. With its purple-and-black color scheme, the design clearly pays tribute to the character’s classic look while anchoring it in this fantasy world with a style that feels perfectly suited to the setting.
Based on Aka’s variant cover, it’s clear that Selina’s facial features will remain largely similar to the character’s design in the main universe, with Selina having big green eyes and short, dark hair. The costume is also, in general, one of Selina’s best, with a purple bodysuit accessorized with a black harness-corset combo, a black hood, matching black boots, and elbow-length gloves. All in all, this is a 10/10 reimagining of Catwoman, especially for the unique setting of this Elseworlds.
