Former Bongawan assemblyman Karim Bujang dies
Former five-term Bongawan assemblyman Karim Bujang, 73, died at his home this afternoon.
The veteran Sabah politician, who represented Bongawan from 1990 to 2013, passed away in Kampung Sipanggil, Putatan, Sinar Harian reported.
Karim was elected Bongawan assemblyman after winning the seat on an Usno ticket in 1990. He later joined Umno and retained the seat as a Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate in the next four elections.
He was not fielded by BN in the 2013 election, with Mohamad Alamin contesting the seat instead.
Karim later joined Warisan and returned to contest the Kimanis parliamentary seat in the 14th general election (GE14) in 2018.
He narrowly lost the election by 156 votes to Anifah Aman, who then contested the seat on a BN ticket.
