From creators Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein, and Segel, Shrinking follows Jimmy Laird (Segel), a grieving therapist who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives … including his own.

Foley will play a therapy patient, sources close to production say.

Season 4 will also star Judith Light, who is joining the cast in a recurring role, as well as Christa Miller, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley. The expanding cast also includes Christian Slater and Karen Gillan, and guest stars Goldstein, Damon Wayans Jr., Wendie Malick, and Cobie Smulders, along with new additions Jeff Daniels and Michael J. Fox, as well as Candice Bergen, Sherry Cola, and Isabella Gomez.

Shrinking is produced for Apple TV by Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence and Goldstein are under overall deals along with Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Randall Winston, Rachna Fruchbom, Ashley Nicole Black, Bill Posley, Abraham Higginbotham, and Emily Wilson executive produce.

As Deadline first reported, Foley also recently signed up for a series regular role on the Hulu pilot Young Americans, where he will play Judd Burchfield, the President of the United States and leader of the free world. Foley will also return as his fan-favorite character, Sean Kelly, in the upcoming second season of ABC’s Scrubs revival. Foley was most recently seen starring and executive producing the Amazon series It’s Not Like That, recurring on the ABC series Will Trent, and returning to the Scream franchise in the film’s seventh installment.
