The Ghana Police Service has arrested 41 suspects during an intelligence-led operation targeting criminal and narcotics-related activities at Lapaz and Chantan in Accra.

The operation, carried out by the Service’s Special Operations Team (SOT) at about noon on Thursday, October 15, led to the arrest of 35 males and six females.

In a statement, the police said quantities of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances were retrieved during searches conducted on the suspects and within the areas covered by the operation.

According to the police, investigations are under way to establish the source and ownership of the suspected narcotic substances, as well as their intended use.

The Service said the findings would determine the next course of action against the suspects.

“Investigations are ongoing to establish the source, ownership and intended use of the suspected narcotic substances, after which appropriate legal action will be taken against any suspect found culpable,” the statement said.
