Dwayne Johnson and Benny Safdie’s ‘Lizard Music’ Sets Holiday 2027 Release From Amazon MGM

Translate

Dwayne Johnson and Benny Safdie are getting ready to serve up a little music for the holidays.

Amazon MGM Studios is set to release feature Lizard Music, which is a hybrid of live-action and CGI, in theaters on Dec. 25, 2027. Johnson leads the cast that also includes Theo Clark Leber, Alicia Silverstone, Tim Heidecker, Arya Parvathi, Regina Hall, Colman Domingo, Jeff Goldblum, Rachel McAdams, Andrew Dice Clay and David Krumholtz.

Safdie directs the film from his own script that is based on author Daniel Pinkwater’s novel of the same name. Producing the project are Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt for United Artists, Safdie for Out for the Count Productions, Johnson for Seven Bucks Productions and David Koplan for Magnetic Fields Entertainment.

Lizard Music centers on a boy who discovers a secret late-night broadcast of music-playing lizards. As he seeks the truth, he meets the quirky septuagenarian Chicken Man (Johnson) and his 111-year-old chicken friend Claudia as they all set out on an adventure to explore a hidden society.

The film reunites Johnson and Safdie following last year’s The Smashing Machine. Johnson earned acclaim for his role as UFC Hall of Famer Mark Kerr in the A24 release that marked Safdie’s first solo directorial effort following his work on such projects as Good Time and Uncut Gems with co-director and brother Josh Safdie.

Also set for theatrical release on Christmas in 2027 are Ron Howard’s Alone at Dawn, with the Amazon MGM drama starring Anne Hathaway and Adam Driver, and Nancy Meyers’ comedy Paris Paramount that stars Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin, Jude Law and Owen Wilson for Warner Bros.
