Translate

Philip Pratt, the former Amazon Germany originals boss who oversaw the likes of Maxton Hall, has moved over to Disney+.

Pratt has taken on the VP, Original Production post in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and will join Disney in early 2027 to oversee commissioning in the region, based out of Munich. He is effectively replacing Benjamina Mirnik-Voges, who is leaving.

Reporting to EMEA content boss Angela Jain, he will contribute to a Disney international commissioning team that is aiming to triple its number of originals over the next three years. Previous Disney Germany shows nclude Call my Agent Berlin, Jörg Winger’s Sam – A Saxon and The Interpreter of Silence, while upcoming is Austrian satire Vienna Game, thriller Nele Neuhaus Monster and Swiss production Under the Ice.

Pratt spent 11 years at Amazon MGM Studios, where he was Head of Original Productions working across huge hits like Maxton Hall – The World Between Us, war movie The Tank and a local version of LOL: Last One Laughing.

Jain said Pratt’s “creative track record and experience make him the perfect person to lead [Disney’s] work across Germany, Switzerland and Austria, partnering with exceptional producers and talent to build a slate that gets audiences talking.”

Pratt added: “I look forward to working with incredibly creative talent to bring stories to Disney+ that entertain, resonate and reach millions of viewers across Germany, Switzerland, Austria and beyond. I envision Disney+ to be a creative home where producers and talent come together, take bold ideas forward and create extraordinary entertainment.”

Pratt’s hire follows that of My Brilliant Friend producer Sonia Rovai’s recent appointment as Disney’s VP of Original Production in Italy. Under CEO Josh D’Amaro the Mouse House is looking to triple international originals and Jain has previously said she has been given an expanded budget.
