Coronation Street airs devastating Debbie scenes after salon incident

Debbie Webster's condition continues to deteriorate in Coronation Street as a confusing incident in the salon leaves her devastated. Debbie has been diagnosed with dementia, struggling to come to terms with what her condition will mean for herself as well as those around her.

Heart-breaking scenes saw Debbie go as far as researching assisted suicide after she experienced a glimpse into her possible future.

In tonight's (3 September) episode, Debbie fled the salon in a panic after a strange incident that saw her give Bethany Platt an 80s-style makeover while reliving her hairdressing past.

The episode begins with Debbie giving Ronnie Bailey the cold shoulder after they argued over Idris' car, though she appears to have forgotten that they made up.

Later, Ryan Connor was receiving a manicure from Bethany, who had been left in charge of the salon while Maria Connor was running errands, when Debbie breezes into the salon in a daze.

After staring at her comb and asking if Bethany "was ready" and "wanted a blow-dry", it soon became clear that Debbie was reliving her hairdressing past.

Debbie said that she "qualified last year" when Bethany remembered that Debbie used to be a hairdresser, with Debbie also asking if Bethany had heard of these "new things called crimpers."

Maria returned to the salon to find Debbie giving Bethany a full 80s makeover, and she offered to sort Maria out with a new look as well.

Bethany played along, but when Debbie picked up the scissors, Maria swooped in and came to her rescue, which forced Debbie to rush out of the salon.

Debbie ran into Abi Webster, who does her best to calm her down, who was left shocked by doing "something new" following her diagnosis.

Abi insisted that Debbie have a rest and offered to stay with her, but Debbie said that she needed to go to work as it'll give her familiarity and headed to the hotel.

Debbie found Ronnie drinking in the hotel bar, with Abi filling Ronnie in on what happened in the salon.

He attempted to get Debbie away from the bar and tables when she tried to take drinks that weren't finished, but she lashed out at her husband before suffering a meltdown and shouting at the customers.

She screamed for everyone in the bar to leave while Ronnie desperately attempted to get her to have some fresh air.

Debbie tearfully told Ronnie that this was all his fault, forcing Ryan to step up and explain to the customers that Debbie was unwell.

She rushed off again, but what will this latest development mean for Debbie and her loved ones?
