Euromatch NPFL: Enyimba Halt Winless Run, Rangers Go Top After Victory Over Wolves

Enyimba finally secured their first win of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League,NPFL, season with an emphatic 4-2 victory over Shooting Stars.

Richard Ezinna put the hosts ahead in the sixth minute after capitalising on a defensive error by the visitors.

Enyimba doubled their lead in the 28th minute when Chibueze Damian unleashed a long-range strike that found the back of the net.

The home side continued to control proceedings and added a third goal nine minutes before half-time. Odinaka Obichere provided the assist for Idris Abubakar, who calmly finished to make it 3-0.

Enyimba extended their advantage four minutes after the restart when Ifeanyi Ihemekwele scored their fourth goal of the afternoon.

Shooting Stars managed to reduce the deficit in the 76th minute through substitute Mustapha Adams Agba’a, before Johnmark Aule scored a second for the visitors in added time.

Elsewhere, defending champions Rangers moved to the top of the NPFL standings after edging Warri Wolves 1-0 away in Ozoro.

Experienced forward Godwin Obaje scored the only goal of the match from the penalty spot in the 11th minute to secure all three points for Rangers.

At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Rivers United were held to a 1-1 draw by Katsina United.

Samson Olasupo put Rivers United ahead two minutes after the restart, but their lead lasted just three minutes before Sani Mubarak equalised with a well-taken free-kick.

In Lagos, Sporting Lagos and Ikorodu City shared the points after playing out a goalless draw in their local derby at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
