Egypt, Norway discuss bilateral relations, regional, international developments
Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and his Norwegian counterpart Espen Barth Eide reviewed key regional issues of mutual concern, topped by the Palestinian issue.
During a meeting on the fringe of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, Abdelatty underscored Egypt’s keenness to strengthen consultation mechanisms with Norway and advance bilateral cooperation, especially in trade, investment, and the energy sector.
Abdelatty also proposed launching a framework for cooperation with Norwegian financial agencies and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) to open avenues for tripartite cooperation in African nations.
He hailed growing ties between Egypt and Norway, especially following President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s visit to Oslo in late 2024.
Abdelatty reiterated Cairo’s rejection of displacement plans and Israeli settlement policies, asserting the importance of adhering to the two-state solution and establishing an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, borders.
