Alumni plan N500m for Oyo school development

The Old Students’ Association of Ipapo Community Grammar School has announced plans to raise N500 million to fund development projects at the school as part of activities marking its 50th anniversary.

The association said the Golden Jubilee celebration would hold from September 14 to 20, 2026, with activities covering education, career development, sports, health, community engagement and social events.

In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Ereola Shiyanbola, and President, Femi Olawore, the association said it would also complete a multipurpose hall and upgrade existing buildings and facilities within the school.

The association said the multipurpose hall would provide a befitting venue for academic, cultural, social and community activities.

The association stated that the projects were designed to give back to the institution that had contributed to the development of generations of students.

The statement read, “As part of its anniversary legacy, OSAICOGS is completing a multipurpose hall and upgrading existing buildings and facilities within the school. The hall is expected to provide a befitting venue for academic, cultural, social and community activities.

“The association said the total cost of the planned interventions is ₦500 million and appealed to individuals, corporate organisations, friends of the school and other well-wishers to support the initiative.”

The statement said the fundraising would provide resources for the completion of the multipurpose hall and the upgrading of other facilities within the school.

According to the association, the project was conceived as part of the legacy of the Golden Jubilee and was intended to improve the learning and social environment for present and future students.

The old students said that upon completion, the association would formally hand over the multipurpose hall to the school as a lasting legacy of the 50th anniversary celebration.

The anniversary would open on Monday, September 14, with an awareness campaign, anniversary walk, tree planting and press conference.

It said the one-week programme would feature interactive sessions, career day, health screening and a novelty football match, among other activities.
