Former Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir of Kenya has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit after an out-of-competition sample returned an adverse analytical finding for EPO.
The sample was collected before her victory in the Sydney Marathon on August 30 this year.
The Kenyan is a former half-marathon world record holder and a four-time World Marathon Major winner, having won the Sydney Marathon (2026), the London Marathon (2024), the Boston Marathon (2022), and the New York Marathon (2021).
Jepchirchir won gold in the women’s marathon at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and also finished on the top step of the podium at the 2025 World Championships in the Japanese capital.
