Government sends 27 tons of quake relief supplies to NTT: Official

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the government had sent a total of 27 tons of supplies to areas affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
"This is the last flight group for Saturday. The remaining 27 tons of supplies were sent to NTT on various Hercules aircraft on the same day," he said in a statement on Sunday.In addition to providing supplies, Teddy said President Prabowo Subianto continued to encourage cross-sectoral cooperation to ensure a swift and targeted response to the earthquake.
The President instructed relevant officials to directly assess conditions at disaster sites.
Those ordered to travel to the affected areas included Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto, Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Mohammad Syafii, Deputy Minister of Health Benjamin Paulus Octavianus, and Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono.
Representatives from state-owned enterprises (SOEs), including PLN, Pertamina, and Telkom, were also deployed to support the response in affected areas, including by ensuring the swift restoration of basic services, energy, and telecommunications.
Teddy also emphasized the government's commitment to accelerating the post-earthquake response by deploying personnel from the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to support recovery and evacuation efforts in affected areas.
"TNI and Polri had deployed more than 3,500 personnel to various areas in Flores on Saturday, spread across Manggarai, Maumere, Flores, and other affected areas in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT)," he said.
A magnitude-7.7 earthquake struck Nagekeo District, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Saturday (Aug. 15).
Following the earthquake, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued a tsunami early warning, which was later lifted at 7:30 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
Based on preliminary data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) on Saturday evening, the earthquake had claimed 47 lives.
Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center Berton SP Panjaitan said the fatalities included 24 people in Manggarai District, 17 in East Manggarai District, three in Sikka District, one in Ngada District, and one in Ende District.
