Rey Mysterio could be heading toward retirement in 2027, and WWE is reportedly talking about plans for his exit from the ring. According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, internal conversations included the idea of a retirement tour for the former WWE Champion. Mysterio himself hasn't announced anything, but the report puts his future in the spotlight as he gets close to his 52nd birthday on December 11. He is still active on WWE Raw and also holds an on-screen general manager role with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, so retiring would mean leaving more than only his regular WWE matches.

WWE Has Discussed a Possible Retirement Tour for Mysterio

WWE's reported discussions include options for a retirement tour, but Mysterio didn't publicly confirm any plan to step away in 2027. Also, the report comes at a time when many well-known names got linked with the end of their careers.

Goldberg, John Cena, Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles have all called it quits since 2025. Over in AEW, Adam Copeland, who wrestled in WWE as Edge, said he plans to retire at some point in 2027 too.

Mysterio is wrestling regularly on Raw, where his son Dominik is also part of the roster. Besides that, he spent five months as the on-screen general manager of AAA. Two roles, one man: Raw wrestler and AAA authority figure. There is no confirmed retirement date or farewell schedule for the 51-year-old star.

Mysterio Already Has a Hall of Fame Career Behind Him

Mysterio's achievements in WWE are already secured in the history books. He entered the WWE Hall of Fame in 2023 and won three world championships, which are one WWE Championship and two World Heavyweight Championship reigns.

His career also has the 2006 Royal Rumble win and a Grand Slam championship. And he captured WWE tag team titles with five different partners, one of them a championship run alongside Dominik.

If the reported discussions turn into a retirement announcement, his next chapter will come after decades of competing at the highest level. For now, he keeps appearing on WWE programming and stays involved with AAA. What happens next is up to him and WWE. Stay tuned for more updates.
