Vishwak Sen turned writer, actor, and director for his latest release, Cult. The Telugu film has been termed a slasher thriller, hinting at its violent themes. The film marks Vishwak’s second release of the year after Funky. Cult had a disappointing start at the box office but saw slight growth over the opening weekend.

The film has received mixed-to-positive responses from audiences on social media. The pre-release buzz around the film was also limited. To add to it, the film clashed at the box office with Venkatesh Daggubati and Trivikram Srinivas’s film, Aadarsha Kutumbam House No. 47.

How Much Did Cult Earn At The Box Office In 3 Days?

The Telugu actioner has completed its opening weekend at the box office. In India, the film earned 1.05 crore on its first Sunday, a drop from its Saturday collection of 1.15 crore. The film’s net total after 3 days stands at 3.18 crore, which translates to 3.75 crore gross in India.

Cult, despite its bold themes, is trailing the collections of Vishwak Sen’s previous release, Funky. The Vishwak Sen starrer was released in theatres earlier this year. It also starred Kayadu Lohar in the lead. Funky had a strong opening of 2.2 crore. The film wrapped up its opening weekend with a net total of 5.75 crore. Cult is 44.7% behind Funky after 3 days. Funky wrapped up its theatrical run with a net total of 8.95 crore. If Cult gains momentum in the coming days, it could surpass Funky.

More About Cult

The film narrates the story of a group of college friends and their weekend getaway. Things turn deadly when they become targets of a ruthless masked killer and get trapped in a survival game. Apart from Vishwak Sen, the film also stars Murli Sharma, Gayatri Bhardwaj, Tarak Ponappa, and others.
