The Strokes Better Look Out: Druski Is Coming for Their Musical Guest Gig in New ‘SNL’ Promos

Druski is looking to follow in the footsteps of Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Harry Styles and more hosts who pulled double duty as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. There’s only one problem: The Strokes were already booked as this weekend’s musical guest.

In new promos for Saturday Night Live, the first-time host — surrounded by cast member Sarah Sherman and The Strokes — proudly announces, “Hi, I’m Druski, and I’ll be the host and musical guest on SNL this week!”

“Druski, we already have a musical guest — The Strokes,” Sherman replies, to which the band’s Fabrizio Moretti just waves at the viral comedian and says, “Hi!”

“Can they do this?” Druski asks before ripping a totally sick (and obviously pantomimed) electric guitar solo.

“Wow, that’s really great!” Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas tells Druski. “But yes, yes we can.”

The promos begin with Druski singing a song and playing air guitar and then asking, “That’s you guys, right?” When Moretti politely shakes his head, “No,” Sherman urges the host: “Just do the promo, Druski!”

Druski is hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time this weekend, while The Strokes will be the musical guest for a fourth time. They made their SNL debut in January 2002 and also performed in 2006 and 2011. The band is promoting their most recently released album, July’s Reality Awaits, which debuted at No. 13 on the all-genre Billboard 200 and at No. 5 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart.

Saturday Night Live airs at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC and streams on Peacock. (See all the options to watch SNL here.)
