Bayer Leverkusen Chief Reacts To Boniface Transfer Speculation
Bayer Leverkusen managing director Simon Rolfes has reacted to speculation surrounding Victor Boniface’s future at the club, insisting that the striker will get his opportunity if he continues to work hard and improve his fitness.
According to Sky Sports, Boniface has expressed his desire to leave the former Bundesliga champions when the transfer window reopens in January.
The Nigeria international has struggled for regular playing time at Leverkusen this season, raising questions about his future with the German club.

However, Rolfes has played down concerns over the striker’s situation, urging him to remain fit and patient as he works towards earning more opportunities.
“That doesn’t change Boni’s situation. He needs to stay fit, keep at it and improve, then his opportunity will arise. I’m not worried,” Rolfes was quoted by transfermarkt.

“He has been in a much better mood, also mentally, and sees many more perspectives again,” Rolfes stated.
The Leverkusen director also acknowledged that pressing and defensive work were not among Boniface’s strongest attributes during his previous spell of consistent goalscoring, stressing that the club is focused on improving his fitness to help him showcase his attacking qualities.
Striker Must Improve Fitness
“Starting and working against the ball was not his core competency when he played and scored. He has other qualities. We want to raise his fitness level as much as possible so that he can better demonstrate the qualities he undoubtedly possesses,” he added.
Boniface spent last season on loan at fellow Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.
The striker has recorded one assist in one league appearance for Die Werkself in the current campaign.
