In The Dungeon Experience, players are guided by a mudcrab who allegedly has the secrets to unlocking financial freedom. Joined by a cast of equally ridiculous Dungeons & Dragons-esque monsters (including one that looks like a Beholder with a regular human face), The Dungeon Experience is not a game that takes itself particularly seriously. That's part of its charm and ultimately what makes it the perfect game for those who want a new release ahead of Dungeon Crawler Carl's latest adaptation.

The Dungeon Experience Looks Like A Lot Of Fun

The Dungeon Experience looks like a lot of fun, in large part due to its inherently surreal and unexpected setting. This shouldn't be terribly surprising, considering it comes from publisher Devolver Digital, which is famous for its penchant for absurdly brilliant and highly innovative indie games. It also comes from developers Jacob Janerka and Simon Boxer, both of whom have created excellent titles in the past, with Janerka's phenomenal and equally surreal 2017 release, Paradigm, being the closest in tone to The Dungeon Experience.

It also has a free demo, which gives players a taste of the kind of humor, tone, and gameplay you can expect from this new fantasy adventure. It's honestly the perfect way to see if The Dungeon Experience is for you, as while it is shaping up to be a rather incredible new release, its sense of humor definitely won't be for everyone. It's inherently silly, often satirical, and brilliantly preposterous, all of which are great characteristics, but won't necessarily be to everyone's taste.

The Dungeon Experience doesn't have a confirmed release date just yet, with its Steam store page merely listing its prospective date as "to be announced." However, it was announced back in 2025, so one would hope that we'll be seeing more of it in the coming months. It is certainly a game worth keeping an eye on, especially for fans of Dungeon Crawler Carl and Dungeons & Dragons, as The Dungeon Experience has the potential to be one of the funniest and most creative D&D-likes in a while.
