Dove Cameron & RJ Mitte Thriller ‘Cassi’ Gets Sales Launch At TIFF Market

EXCLUSIVE: VMI International is launching TIFF market sales on thriller Cassi, starring Dove Cameron (Descendants) and RJ Mitte (Breaking Bad).

From director-writer Josh Webber, the film follows Cameron’s character Cassi, “a waitress at a local diner whose life takes a dangerous turn when she romances a reclusive young mortician called Isaac (Mitte). Their love quickly spirals into a murderous obsession, but with the detectives hot on their tail it forces Isaac to confront how much farther he’s willing to go for Cassi.”

Supporting cast also features Casper Van Dien, Robert Lasardo and Bastiano Ferrai.

Pic is produced by Webber Films in association with Ferrari Films. Webber produces alongside Bastiano Ferrari, Mailene Carmona, Robert Robinson, and Susan Prinz. Co-producers on the project include James Cullen Bressack, Alex Altman, Rene Lacad, Sean Barry, Rock Jacobs, Kevin Boston, and Douglas Fine, with Latif Abid, Mo Punjani, Mario Azevedo, Hans Gerst, Stacy Kemp Ferrari, and Silvija Bayrooti serving as executive producers.

The completed film was previously known as Love Me Dead and released in Germany in 2024. However, the filmmakers did some re-shoots and added additional cast for the rest of world release, which is due later this year or in 2027.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with VMI Worldwide on the sales of Cassi. Their expertise and deep understanding of the domestic and international marketplace make them an ideal partner for the film, and we’re confident they’ll help bring Cassi to audiences around the world,” said Josh Webber of Webber Films.

“Cassi is a beautifully crafted film that explores powerful themes of love, horror, and obsession, while examining just how far someone is willing to go for the person they love. The film creates a deeply unsettling atmosphere that lingers with the audience, and we are thrilled to showcase Cassi to buyers at TIFF,” added Jessica Russo, COO, Acquisitions and Productions at VMI Worldwide.
