Prime Video premiered a new trailer for “Bloodaxe,” which hits the streamer on Jan. 20, 2027.

The teaser debuted at a New York Comic Con panel with showrunners Michael Hirst and Horatio Hirst, as well as cast members Xavier Molyneux, Jessica Madsen and Levi Miller.

Season 1 of “Bloodaxe” follows the rise of Erik Bloodaxe (Molyneux), one of the most notable Norse raiders in history, and his wife Gunnhild (Madsen). As the formidable duo fights for the throne of Norway, the land is ripped apart by rivalries, loyalties and betrayals. The kingdom braces for the war on the horizon in this new Norse saga, as other Scandinavian kings and even an English king are drawn into the chaos.

Also starring in Season 1 are Karlis Arnolds Avots, Rod Hallett, Alina Tomnikov, Sisse Marie, Rune Temte and Jesper Christensen.

The series shares a historical connection with Michael Hirst’s “Vikings” series, which ran from 2013-2021. Its sequel series, “Vikings: Valhalla,” ran for three seasons on Netflix from 2022 to 2024. “Bloodaxe” is set in the 10th century, between Hirst’s previous television outings.

“Bloodaxe” is executive produced and written by Michael and Horatio Hirst. Additional executive producers are Morgan O’Sullivan under his O’Sullivan Productions label, Steve Stark under his Toluca Pictures label, Arturo Interian, John Weber and Sheila Hockin. The series is produced by MGM Television.

All eight episodes will premiere exclusively on Prime Video. “Bloodaxe” has already been picked up for a second season, currently in production in Ireland.
