Indian man dies after motorbike collides with van on Da Lat pass

Two Indian men riding a motorbike collided with a van on Prenn Pass connecting Da Lat in Lam Dong Province, leaving one of them dead and the other seriously injured.

At around 6 p.m. Friday, the two men were traveling by motorbike from Da Lat toward southern Dong Nai Province via the pass.

Near the Datanla Waterfall in Xuan Huong Ward, their vehicle collided with a van traveling in the opposite direction.

The crash killed a 26-year-old man at the scene.

His 24-year-old companion suffered multiple injuries and was rushed to Lam Dong General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Authorities have not yet determined which of the men was driving the motorbike.

At the scene, the motorbike was found in the opposite lane surrounded by scattered debris, while the van had stopped in its lane a short distance away.

The road was wet from recent rain.

The injured man was transferred to a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City early on Saturday at his family's request.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

The 7.27-kilometer Prenn Pass is a major gateway connecting National Highway 20 with downtown Da Lat.

The winding road, which runs through hills and pine forests, was widened to four lanes in early 2024.
