Shreyas Iyer on Tuesday smashed his maiden T20I century during the first game between India and West Indies at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

The Indian captain notched up his ton in just 42 balls, making it the fastest by an Indian against the West Indies, and took India to an eight-wicket win. The innings was laced with 10 fours and six sixes.

His previous best in the format was an unbeaten 80 against England in Bristol earlier this year.

Iyer now becomes only the third Indian captain after Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav to slam a hundred in this format.

Coincidentally, Iyer had also scored his maiden Indian Premier League century at the same venue earlier this year, for Punjab Kings against Lucknow Super Giants.
