The Decemberists Return with New Song “The Better Part of Bravery”: Stream

The Decemberists are back with “The Better Part of Bravery,” their first new song since their 2024 album, As It Ever Was, So It Will Be Again. Stream the track below.

“The Better Part of Bravery” plays during the end credits of the upcoming animated stop-motion film Wildwood, based on frontman Colin Meloy’s 2011 debut novel. In a statement, Meloy said the song gave him a chance to “return to the world of Wildwood in a different way. There’s something particularly meaningful about having music accompany the audience as they leave the forest and the story comes to a close.”

Directed by Travis Knight and featuring an all-star cast led by Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, and Angela Bassett, Wildwood will open in theaters across the US, Canada, the UK, and Ireland on October 23rd following its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on October 11th.
