Euromatch NPFL: We Are Focused On Accumulating Points –Rivers United Assistant Coach Olanrewaju
Rivers United assistant coach Yemi Olanrewaju has emphasized that the team’s primary focus is gathering as many points as possible in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, rather than dwelling on their unbeaten record.
Olanrewaju made the remark following Rivers United’s hard-fought goalless draw against Barau FC in a Matchday 9 encounter in Port Harcourt on Monday. The Port Harcourt-based club currently stands as the only unbeaten team remaining in the league this season.

Reflecting on the match in a chat with the club’s media, Olanrewaju stated that the squad is fully prepared to surpass their performance from last campaign.
“I think we are prepared; this is Rivers United. The pressure is on us to do well this season, more than we did last season,” Olanrewaju told the club’s media.
“For us, we are not even looking at the unbeaten run; it doesn’t really matter. We just want to get as many points as possible.

“The key thing for us is not to concede. If you don’t concede, you can’t lose a game. That’s our philosophy.”
Rivers United will now turn their attention to a high-stakes South-South derby against Bendel Insurance at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Sunday.
