KOTA BHARU, Oct 7 — A 44-year-old nurse was seriously injured after she was allegedly stabbed six times by her husband at their home in Kampung Padang Lepai, near Kadok, here last night.
The woman suffered stab wounds to her body and neck and is receiving treatment at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II, Harian Metro reported today.
The incident occurred at about 8.30pm, with police receiving a report the same night.
Kota Bharu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azmir Damiri confirmed the incident and said the victim’s 47-year-old husband was arrested after he surrendered to police.
“Police have yet to identify the motive for the incident,” he was quoted as saying.
He added that the suspect had been remanded for seven days from yesterday to assist investigations.
Azmir said the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using a dangerous weapon.
Police also seized a knife from the suspect, according to Harian Metro.
