Ganges Grandmasters wins maiden Global Chess League title, Alpine Pipers finishes runner-up

Ganges Grandmasters won its maiden Global Chess League title after beating defending champion Alpine APL Pipers in the Season 4 final in Bengaluru on Sunday.
The opening match of the final ended 3-3 before Ganges won the second 4-2 to seal the championship. Ian Nepomniachtchi’s victory over Magnus Carlsen proved crucial, while Stavroula Tsolakidou’s win against Koneru Humpy helped secure the title.
Alpine APL Pipers, which had entered the tournament as defending champion, finished runner-up.
FYERS American Gambits took third place after defeating CheQ Mumba Masters in both playoff matches, winning the first 3.5-2.5 and the second 4-2.
