Telecel Group and Huawei Sign $200m strategic partnership

Translate

Eleanor Azar, Chief of Staff of Telecel Group, and Chad Wei, Deputy Managing Director of Huawei Ghana, sign the MOU at HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 in Shanghai, witnessed by Nicolas Bourg, Chairman of Telecel Group, and Rex Lei, Regional Vice President of Huawei.

Telecel Group, a pan-African telecommunications and technology group, today announced a $200 million strategic partnership with Huawei, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed at HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 in Shanghai.

Eleanor Azar, Chief of Staff of Telecel Group, and Chad Wei, Deputy Managing Director of Huawei Ghana, signed the MOU. Nicolas Bourg, Chairman of Telecel Group, and Rex Lei, Regional Vice President of Huawei, witnessed the signing.

The three-year agreement nearly triples the $70 million framework signed by the two companies in Shenzhen last November and further strengthens the long-standing strategic relationship between Telecel Group and Huawei.

Under the framework, the companies will collaborate on Telecel Group’s network expansion, mobile broadband densification and intelligent digital infrastructure across its operations. Ghana will be a key focus of the investment program, supporting Telecel’s continued network expansion and growing consumer and enterprise customer base in the market.

The partnership will be implemented through a phased, three-year roadmap, supporting faster, more reliable connectivity, an enhanced customer experience, and infrastructure capable of supporting future technologies across Telecel’s markets.

“This partnership reflects our long-term commitment to investing in world-class telecommunications infrastructure across Africa,” said Nicolas Bourg, Chairman of Telecel Group. “

Expanding our partnership with Huawei from a $70 million framework to a $200 million, three-year program is an important step in our growth strategy. Ghana remains a cornerstone of our operations and an important part of this investment roadmap.”

“Huawei is proud to deepen its strategic partnership with Telecel Group at a time of continued growth and investment across Africa,” said Rex Lei, Regional Vice President of Huawei.

“This agreement reflects our shared commitment to advancing digital infrastructure and connectivity. Huawei will bring its technology, expertise and deployment capabilities to support Telecel Group’s three-year roadmap and continued expansion.”

The agreement reinforces Telecel Group’s commitment to long-term investment in its markets and to advancing digital inclusion and economic development through reliable, future-ready connectivity.
