Chelle Make Late Changes To Super Eagles Squad For AFCON Qualifiers

Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has made late changes to the squad of the senior national team of Nigeria for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers in September, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Nigeria will be involved in AFCON 2027 qualifiers opening their campaign at home against Madagascar on the 25th, before travelling to keep a date with Guinea-Bissau in Morocco four days later.

Chelle’s list was originally due to be released today but it has been deferred to later in the week with the coach making some injury enforced changes, while waiting on the fitness of some of the players in his list.

Sources say the quartet of top striker Victor Osimhen, midfield duo of Frank Onyeka and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru as well as winger Femi Azeez are part of the reason behind the change, and the decision to delay the list.

Also some players who are in the team for the Russia friendly were only contacted during the week by the coach, who also doubles as the U23 coach and will use the game in Moscow to try out most of the players in his plans.
