MBC Studios Sets November 19 Release For Landmark Production ‘Traveller’s Hell’

MBC Studios has announced a November 19 theatrical release date for long-awaited psychological thriller Traveller’s Hell about a young woman who picks up a stranger on a remote road.

The feature is adapted from the best-selling novel of the same name by acclaimed best-selling Saudi author Osamah Almuslim, who wrote the screenplay.

The release marks a significant milestone for the studio in a strategic partnership with Almuslim, first announced more than two years ago, aimed at adapting several of his popular literary works into film and television projects.

It also stands out for its female driven genre storyline and as the first feature for pioneering Saudi director Hana Alomair, who previously co-wrote and directed Whispers, one of Netflix’s first original series with Saudi Arabia in the wake of the country opening up in 2017.

The Riyadh-based studio said the release would begin in Saudi cinemas, with rollouts to additional Arab cities to be announced in the coming weeks.

Shot on location across Saudi Arabia, the movie’s ensemble cast features Adwa Bader, Basil Alsole, Mohammed Ali, Shojaat Nashat, and Aziz Gharbawi.

The feature opens on an isolated road late at night as a young woman, driving alone, comes across a stranded male driver whose car has broken down on a mountain road notorious for disappearances and murders.

Choosing empathy over a creeping sense of foreboding, she offers him a ride to the nearest station. That single choice unleashes a harrowing chain of strange and terrifying events in the dead of night, turning a simple gesture of kindness into a real-life nightmare.
