PPR Batu Muda gets RM28.12m upgrade, maintenance boost

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has allocated RM28.12 million for phased maintenance and upgrading works at the Batu Muda People's Housing Programme (PPR) here.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said the allocation to improve facilities at the housing scheme was expected to benefit over 10,000 residents, provided they took good care of the facilities.

"As long as Malaysians do not know how to maintain cleanliness, money will continue to be spent on cleaning operations, and we will not have enough funds for development," she said during the Mega Cleaning Programme in conjunction with Malaysia Clean-Up Day and a walkabout to inspect maintenance works at PPR Batu Muda today.

She stressed that maintaining cleanliness through the Malaysia Clean-Up initiative should become a continuous habit rather than a one-off programme.

The programme was also attended by Batu MP P. Prabakaran and Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud.

Meanwhile, DBKL said in a statement that upgrading works completed at PPR Batu Muda included replacing 21 lifts costing RM11.69 million, which was completed in October last year and is currently within the Defects Liability Period (DLP).

DBKL also completed road resurfacing works costing RM1.46 million, as well as upgrading a children's playground at the housing scheme costing RM278,000. - BERNAMA
