Where are all the kids’ movies? This was the question dominating many film lovers’ circles in recent years. Yet when Fahadh Faasil headlined a magical, child-friendly film, the box-office response was disappointing. But that has been the case with many films released on the big screen. Most find their redemption once they complete their 4–8-week theatrical window and land on streaming platforms. Is Fahadh’s Don’t Trouble The Trouble also one such misunderstood film?

Malayalam cinema’s favorite star, Fahadh Faasil, who has been lauded for his film choices and dedication to his craft, has stepped into Telugu cinema. He first arrived in the industry as the bald-headed Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat in Pushpa. For his Telugu protagonist role, he chose a completely different character and genre. While some sections criticized his decision to take up the film, Don’t Trouble The Trouble is a refreshing choice made by the actor.

Don’t Trouble The Trouble Movie Review: Script Analysis

Don’t Trouble The Trouble is the story of Suri, an ambulance driver who is always looking for quick and easy ways to earn money. An orphan, he has learned that the only way to live a good life is to earn more and more money. In the process, he has never learned to express emotions or feel anything for anyone. All he cares about is money. This habit lands him in trouble with Aslam Bhai (Mahesh Manjrekar), who demands 25 lakh within two days.

In desperation, Suri resorts to kidnapping so he can make money through blackmail. This is when he meets Divya (Ssara Palekar), a young girl deeply fascinated by magic and magicians. He learns that she belongs to a rich family and kidnaps her. But what he doesn’t know is that the girl has a deep secret, and this is no ordinary kidnapping. The film also stars Saurabh Sachdeva as Pratap, who is searching for his missing sister, brother-in-law, and their daughter, Divya.

The film has elements that could make it a serious watch, but it remains light-hearted, with several genuinely entertaining moments. Don’t Trouble The Trouble is primarily about the journey of Suri and Divya, how their lives intertwine and how their story turns into a comedy of errors with a climax filled with heart.

Don’t Trouble The Trouble Movie Review: Star Performance

Fahadh Faasil primarily lifts this film with his performance. The actor’s last goofy character that shone at the box office was in Aavesham. He soon followed it up with Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, in which he played a man battling depression while also trying to remain cheerful and goofy around the people in his life. Now, he returns to playing a high-energy, goofy character in Shashank Yeleti’s directorial. His energy in the film is infectious and perfectly suited to the character and the plot.

Joining him is the innocent child actor Ssara Palekar as Divya. She plays a deeply innocent young girl who believes in the power of magic and wants to become a magician. She is unaware of her own reality, which makes her character even more appealing.

Saurabh Sachdeva brings a completely different energy to the film as the worried and desperate uncle trying to locate his family. Mahesh Manjrekar is a delight and probably one of the most effortless actors at playing a local gangster.

Don’t Trouble The Trouble Movie Review: Direction, Music

Director Shashank Yeleti, along with co-writer Hamza Ali, focuses on making this film magical while keeping the real-life plot grounded. They keep you hooked with the mystery surrounding the young girl who unexpectedly enters Suri’s life. At every point, there is an urge to know more about the little girl and what happened to her.

It is difficult to keep an audience entertained with just two people and their camaraderie, but Fahadh and Ssara Palekar’s chemistry works well. While one lies through his teeth, the other’s innocence keeps things lively. Their exchanges are also quite endearing, which becomes one of the film’s biggest strengths.

The climax may seem a little too cheesy, but it is in tune with the film’s concept of magic. Magic here is not just about saying ‘Abracadabra’ and pulling a rabbit out of a hat, but also about how love can transform a person. It may sound like a niche concept, but it is perfectly suited to a children’s film. The film keeps Suri’s dialogues grounded and real while seamlessly infusing elements of love, magic, and innocence, making it an engaging watch.

The film’s music has been composed by Kaala Bhairava, who is popular for RRR. One of the most endearing qualities of the music is how quietly it elevates important moments. It does not overshadow the scenes but gently nudges the emotions in the right direction, allowing the audience to connect with them.

This is a film about magic and, more importantly, about those who still wish to believe in it. You don’t have to bring logic into the picture here, because doing so might only hamper your experience. At its heart, this is a story about a man who never learned to empathize with others and a little girl who has all the love in the world and wants nothing more than to share it. When these two polar opposites cross paths, magic is bound to happen, with or without an ‘Abracadabra’ spell.

Perhaps that’s what makes this film so endearing. It reminds us that magic isn’t always about extraordinary tricks or impossible feats. Sometimes, it is simply about love, kindness, and the ability to change someone’s life. And we can all agree that we need a little of that magic in our lives. If not in reality, at least we can enjoy it for a little while on screen.

3 Stars!
