Aqib Talib Urges Jerry Jones To Trade For Maxx Crosby Before Cowboys’ Championship Window Closes

Aqib Talib would spend the picks. With Dallas still in the NFC East race and its offense giving the team a chance, the former Super Bowl-winning cornerback wants Jerry Jones to make another run at Maxx Crosby before the November 10 trade deadline.
Talib made his case on the Gridiron podcast, arguing that the Cowboys should be willing to surrender two first-round selections for the Raiders pass rusher. His reasoning starts with what Dallas already has: a quarterback and enough offensive talent, in his view, to contend.
Talib Wants Crosby Alongside Dallas' Defensive Additions
“I think Jerry should stick to plan A. Go get Maxx Crosby, man,” Talib said.
He sees Crosby helping against the run, disrupting quarterbacks and bringing fresh energy to a defense that already includes Quinnen Williams and recent acquisition Joey Porter Jr. Talib believes another established playmaker could lift the unit without Dallas having to dismantle its offense.
The urgency also comes from the division. Talib pointed to Philadelphia's injury problems and described the Giants as a rebuilding team, arguing that Dallas should take advantage while the opportunity exists.
He questioned how long the Cowboys could keep their offensive group together, with George Pickens' contract situation among the decisions ahead.
“How long is this window gonna be open?” Talib asked. Dallas improved to 3-4 by beating Philadelphia 38-21 on Monday. The Cowboys host Arizona on Sunday, then visit Indianapolis two days before the deadline.
Jones Has Set A High Bar For Another Trade
Jones has sounded more cautious about spending additional draft capital. Speaking Friday on 105.3 The Fan, he said a deal would need to present a particularly compelling opportunity before he gave up picks.
Dallas has only four selections in the 2027 draft. Its available first-rounder also comes with a complication: the Jets are owed the more favorable of Dallas' own pick and Green Bay's selection following the Williams trade.
Crosby has two sacks and 16 quarterback hits through seven games this season for the Las Vegas Raiders. Dallas pursued him during the offseason before Las Vegas agreed to a Baltimore trade that subsequently collapsed following his physical.
The discussion has continued, but the reporting is mixed. Mike Fisher has predicted Dallas will revisit Crosby, while warning against paying two premium picks. ESPN's Adam Schefter said earlier this week that trade talk around the defender had cooled.
The Raiders are 3-4 after four consecutive losses. Crosby remains under contract following the three-year, $106.5 million extension he signed in March 2025.
