The polls also showed Premier Cho Jung-tai’s (卓榮泰) approval rating rising 5.8 percentage points to 47.7 percent, a record high since he took office.

Asked if they have a favorable impression of the following politicians, with respondents allowed multiple selections, former president Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) topped the poll at 61.7 percent, followed by three more DPP politicians — Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) with 53.5 percent, Lai with 49.7 percent and DPP Taipei mayoral candidate Puma Shen (沈伯洋) with 47.8 percent.

Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) politicians lagged behind, with Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen (盧秀燕) and Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) each getting 36.9 percent, Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) 35.0 percent and KMT Chairwoman Cheng Li-wun (鄭麗文) 15.5 percent.

Another 8.6 percent of respondents did not provide a clear answer.

The survey was conducted from Tuesday to Thursday last week, collecting 1,075 valid responses with a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
