Asian Games 2026: India bows out of track cycling medal contention

The Indian track cycling teams are no longer in medal contention after Tuesday’s qualification races at the Asian Games 2026.

After Tuesday’s heat races, India will not have any representation at the women’s team sprint, men’s team sprint, and women’s team pursuit medal races.

In the women’s team sprint, Celestina, Sarita Kumari, Keerthi Rangaswamy and Triyasha Paul clocked 50.431 seconds in the first-round heat.

Chinese Taipei advanced to the bronze medal race in a time of 49.504.

The men’s team sprint quartet of Rojit Singh, David Beckham, Ronaldo Singh and Jemsh Singh clocked a time of 44.374 seconds in their first-round heat.

However, it finished behind China, which finished in 42.348 second to move into the gold medal match against Japan.

There was no success in the women’s team pursuit either. Harshita Jakhar, Pooja Danole, Meenakshi and Swosti Singh finished last in qualifying, and recorded a time of 4:45.151s competing against the clock.

The gold medal match will now be played between China and Japan, and the bronze between Korea Republic and Uzbekistan.
