Fortnite update today (1 October): What changes in the v42.30 patch notes?

It's spooky season in Fortnite, and today's update marks the official start of Fortnitemares!

The yearly Halloween event sees plenty of horror icons from film, TV and gaming head to Battle Royale Island.

This year is no exception, and we've already had plenty of massive crossovers confirmed.

So, for everything coming in today's Fortnite update, here's what you need to know!

As we've already discussed, today's Fortnite update is all about Fortnitemares, the annual Halloween event.

There are several massive collabs being added to the game as part of the event, with the biggest one today being Five Nights at Freddy's.

As well as that, we've seen key art revealed teasing the inclusion of Slender Man, Freddy Kruger from Nightmare on Elm Street, Obsession, The Purge, Beetlejuice and more.

Whether or not the rest of these are immediately released in Fortnite today, or are set to arrive over the next couple of weeks remains to be seen.

And of course, with a whole month of Fortnitemares to look forward to, there are sure to be further crossovers to be announced throughout October.

As for when the severs will be back up so you can dive in, an update this big usually takes a couple of hours to go live.

For that reason, we think that you can expect to see the servers come back online between 11am and 12pm UK time.

But as with any update, things can always go wrong, and while we hope it's not the case, there's always a chance that we could be waiting even longer than that for the servers to go live again!
