The Duchess of Sussex wants to help the FBI with its investigation into her father Thomas Markle, it was revealed on Saturday night.

A source said Meghan would 'very much like to' assist with multiple child sex abuse inquiries piling up against Markle.

Her offer comes as authorities in the Philippines prepare to proceed with charges against Markle after an investigation there into child sexual abuse claims.

The FBI has enlisted the help of Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, to identify her ex-husband in explicit images found in a Los Angeles storage unit, the Sunday Times said.

Ms Ragland, 70, who divorced Markle in 1987, helped investigators to determine that a man seen touching a naked pre-pubescent girl in two photographs was Markle.

The duchess's father, 82, was arrested by the FBI in Florida on Friday and charged with one count of possessing child pornography. He is also being investigated by Mexican police.

Markle could be charged in the Philippines with possessing exploitative sexual material relating to children on Monday, ITV reported.

Meghan's half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, contacted the FBI after allegedly discovering child sexual abuse material at his father's home in the central Philippines city of Cebu.

He gave local police four boxes containing laptops, phones, hard drives, video tapes and books.

More than 7,000 child sexual abuse images allegedly belonging to Markle were recovered from them.

Officials said they included photos and a video of under-age boys and girls as young as ten.

Interior and local government secretary Jonvic Remulla described the images as 'the most deplorable displays of impunity towards sexual activity that I have ever seen'.

Markle moved from Mexico to the Philippines in January last year before relocating to the US in May after surgery to amputate a leg.

The Duchess of Sussex said she was 'deeply distressed' by the allegations engulfing her father in the Philippines. She has not commented on the developments in Mexico since they surfaced last week

Child pornography, including photos of him allegedly abusing girls, was said to have been found in two storage units he'd been renting for nearly two decades in Los Angeles.

Federal agents swooped on his Maravida Senior Living care home in Lakeland, Florida, on Friday, and he was taken into custody in a wheelchair wearing handcuffs.

He was released back to the care home wearing an electronic tag.

After allegations against him came out last month, Meghan revealed a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police's royal protection team in 2019 detailing allegations of child sexual abuse against her father.

She also said she had never allowed him to meet her two children 'for one reason – to protect them'.

The duchess has been estranged from her father since she married Prince Harry in May 2018.
