MS NOW Offers ‘Membership’ Subscribers Chance for Tickets to ‘Power to the People’ Festival

The Versant-backed news outlet will give subscribers to its recently-launched subscription app a chance to win tickets to attend the first Power to the People Festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md., on Saturday, Oct. 3.

People interested in taking part can enter by answering the prompt: “What song from the past feels newly meaningful in America today, and why?” at ms.now/power-to-the-people-contest. Terms and conditions apply. The contest opens Thursday, Sept. 24, and closes at 11:59 p.m. eastern on Saturday, Sept. 26. Winners will be announced Monday, Sept. 28, on “The Beat with Ari Melber,” which airs at 6 p.m. eastern on MS NOW, ms.now, or on the MS NOW app.

The sold-out festival is curated by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist and songwriter Tom Morello. Among those slated to perform are: Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez, Public Enemy, Brittany Howard, Killer Mike, Cypress Hill, The Linda Lindas, Dropkick Murphys, Serj Tankian, Jack Black, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, Taylor Momsen, Matt Cameron and Bruce Springsteen.

Other streaming services offer off-screen benefits, including Disney’s Disney+, which on occasion makes available access to products and services tied to its broader entertainment portfolio.

MS NOW will serve as the exclusive livestream destination for Power to the People. The event will stream live on MS NOW’s YouTube channel. The livestream will be produced by Tenth Planet Productions and directed by Joel Gallen.

Ari Melber will be on the grounds of the festival throughout the day, connecting audiences with the artists across MS NOW’s television, digital and social platforms.

MS NOW will also host its new Members Lounge at Merriweather Post Pavilion. Members can use the pop-up as place to meet others and connect, as well as recharge between performances. The Lounge recently debuted alongside a live telecast of the MS NOW program “The Weeknight” in Dallas.
