‘Ramayana’: Ravie Dubey on playing Lord Lakshman: ‘Hope and pray every day that I have tapped into the sincerity that the character demands'

With ‘Ramayana’ set to light up this Diwali, the spotlight is on its star-studded cast of Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi. While their looks have drawn mixed reactions, there has been no such debate over Ravie Dubey.

The television heartthrob, who portrays Lord Lakshman, has received universal praise for his look, making him a standout in the film’s early buzz.

Ravie Dubey on the love for his look

In an interview with Variety India, Ravie said, "I am deeply grateful. Whatever love and appreciation has come my way after the trailer, I accept it with a bowed head. I hope and pray every day that I have tapped into the sincerity that the character demands."

Ravie Dubey on the responsibility of playing Lord Lakshman

Dubey says he hopes the honesty he brought to the character during filming translates on screen.

He adds that he is deeply conscious of what the role means to people, saying, “I am fully aware of the responsibility that comes with portraying someone who has lived in the consciousness and hearts of people for thousands of years. It seldom happens in an actor’s life that perhaps, the greatest opportunity of his career so far, is also one of the greatest honors of his life.

That is what this is for me.”

Ravie Dubey’s Hindi film debut in Ramayana

For Dubey, Ramayana is his major debut in Hindi cinema. Reflecting on the project, he shares, “I approach this film with gratitude, love, sincerity and a tremendous sense of responsibility. And all of us are incredibly excited and humbled by the love the trailer is receiving from across the world.”
