Warning of major delays at Cape Town International Airport

Translate

Passengers travelling through Cape Town International Airport have been urged to arrive earlier than usual due to longer-than-normal queues at security screening.

The airport says operational staffing constraints linked to ongoing taxi-related unrest are affecting passenger processing.

Allow additional time

In a travel advisory update, Cape Town International Airport recommended that passengers allow additional time to get through airport procedures before boarding their flights.

The revised arrival recommendations are:

  • International departures: Arrive at least four hours before your flight
  • Domestic departures: Arrive at least three hours before your flight

Passengers urged to check flight updates

The airport has also encouraged travellers to monitor traffic updates before setting off and to check their flight status directly with their airline.

Passengers can also use the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) app for updates.

Airport teams are working to manage passenger movement and minimise disruptions while the operational constraints continue.

The airport apologised for the inconvenience and thanked passengers for their patience and understanding.

Travellers are advised to factor the additional waiting time into their journeys to avoid unnecessary stress or the risk of missing their flights.
