Translate

More than 30 Nigerian players will feature in the Main Draw of the World Tennis Tour Juniors J30 Lagos, which serves off today, Monday, 2 November 2026.

The tournament will be played on the clay courts of the tennis section of the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, Lagos, and will feature young players aged 13-18 from different parts of the world, as reported by Nigeria Tennis Live.

Players from France, Sweden, Poland, India, Great Britain, the United States, Benin Republic and Italy, among other countries, are already in Nigeria for the second edition of the tournament, organised by the Tiger Tennis Foundation.

Ekiti-born Seyi Ogunsakin is the highest-ranked Nigerian in the boys’ event, while Goodnews Aina, also from Ekiti State, is the highest-ranked Nigerian girl in the competition. Both players consequently lead the Nigerian contingent as the top seeds in their respective draws.

Unlike the traditional knockout format, the J30 Lagos event will be played using a round-robin format, with players divided into different groups. The group winners will advance to the quarterfinals, from where the competition will continue in a knockout format through to the finals.

Javier Montes Jimenez and Ohunene Yakubu emerged as the boys’ and girls’ singles champions, respectively, across the two legs of the inaugural J30 Lagos tournament in 2025. However, neither player will be returning to defend their title, as they are both absent from this year’s entry list.

The first leg of the tournament will run from 2-7 November, while the second leg is scheduled for 9-14 November 2026, at the tennis section of the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, Lagos.
