Army member among 4 heavily armed suspects arrested for Cavite convenience store heist

Four suspects including a member of the Philippine Army were arrested in Catanauan, Quezon early Thursday morning in connection with a robbery at a convenience store in Trece Martires, Cavite.

According to police, the suspects were arrested inside a hotel at around 3:40 a.m. during an operation mounted by personnel from several police stations and units.

Among these were the Catanauan, Milunay and Luna municipal police stations, Quezon Police Provincial Office's Provincial Intelligence Unit, as well as the 3rd and 4th Provincial Mobile Force Companies.

Authorities recovered one M16 rifle, two .45 caliber pistols, a .30 caliber evolver, assorted magazines and ammunition, two rifle grenades, two M203 grenade ammunition, and an SUV.

The suspects were brought to the Catanauan Municipal Police Station.

Police said the arrests were in connection with the robbery-hold up incident at convenience store in Trece Martires on Wednesday.

The suspects face charges for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act as well as Republic Act 9516, which covers illegal possession of explosives. —RF, GMA News
