Aguda stays as DICT chief – Palace

SINGAPORE — Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Aguda will remain in his post amid reports that he had resigned, Malacañang said on Wednesday.
Palace press officer Claire Castro said officials had just spoken with Aguda, who indicated that he would continue working as secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
“Wala ring ganong impormasyon dahil kakausap pa lang natin kay Secretary Henry Aguda at nagbigay siya ng larawan din kay Secretary Dave Gomez na patuloy ang trabaho niya bilang sekretarya ng DICT,” Castro told reporters in Singapore.

In a separate statement on Wednesday, Aguda said he was aware of reports surrounding his position and stressed that he remained focused on his duties.
“At this time, I remain focused on carrying out my responsibilities and ensuring the continuity of the department’s work,” Aguda said.
He said the DICT’s work was particularly important as the Philippines holds the Asean chairship this year, citing the department’s role in regional engagements on technology and innovation, including the Asean AI MSME event this week.
Aguda also acknowledged President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s authority over his continued stay in the Cabinet.
