Surprise true crime fans and Elizabeth Holmes obsessives: There’s a new episode of The Dropout to chew on.

The ABC News podcast that inspired the Emmy-winning Hulu series released a special bonus episode Tuesday, one that tackles the stunning success of the Elizabeth Holmes documentary film You Can See Everything, from directors Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim.

Without delving into spoiler territory, the film addresses The Dropout TV series, at one point having Holmes watch some of it with Fielder in her home.

The Dropout podcast debuted in 2019, and a second season ran in 2021, with some bonus episodes released in 2022, coinciding with the Amanda Seyfried-starring Hulu series it inspired. As with those earlier episodes, the new episode is led by Rebecca Jarvis, ABC News chief business, technology and economics correspondent and Good Morning America contributing anchor, who created the initial podcast and was a producer on the Hulu series.

The episode includes a sit-down with Theranos whistleblower Erika Cheung, in part to get her reaction to the film.

The Dropout podcast has seen a resurgence since the film’s release, with ABC saying that the show has seen a “2500 percent increase in plays across Spotify and Apple” in the second week since the film’s release. Now ABC is betting that a new episode can keep that momentum going.
