NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and other world leaders for a family photo at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Sunday as the 18th Brics Summit entered its second and final day.PM Modi welcomed several visiting leaders at the summit venue, including Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Uganda Vice President Jessica Alupo.

The leaders gathered for the family photo ahead of an open session focused on resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability — the core pillars of India's theme for the summit.The session, titled ‘Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability: Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth’, is being held at the Summit Hall inside Bharat Mandapam. It is part of the two-day summit, being hosted by India on September 12-13 under its chairship theme, ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability’.

The open session is expected to provide Brics leaders an opportunity to deliberate on areas of common interest, strengthen cooperation among member countries and advance an inclusive approach to global growth.

PM Modi is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with leaders from seven countries on the sidelines of the summit as India seeks to deepen ties with countries across Asia and Africa.He will meet South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Philippines President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye, Uganda Vice President Jessica Alupo and Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima.South Africa remains a core member of Brics, while PM Modi's meetings with leaders from Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Egypt, Burundi, Uganda and Nigeria are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
