EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Pearl is still raising hell - but now it's in Somerset

She was a key member of the notoriously hedonistic Primrose Hill set who raised hell in north London in the 1990s with her hard-partying antics alongside Kate Moss, Sadie Frost and Jude Law.
Now rock singer-turned-interior designer Pearl Lowe is causing an outcry… in sleepy Somerset.
I can reveal that Pearl, 56, and her husband, Supergrass drummer Danny Goffey, 52, have become embroiled in an acrimonious row over their £2.5million farmhouse.
Pearl – the mother of model Daisy Lowe – has been excitedly documenting online her extensive renovation of the historic cottage, showing off everything from her new bathroom to her designer finishings.
But the high-end renovation project has attracted the attention of the parish council, which has raised concerns that the couple demolished and replaced a conservatory without the necessary listed-building consent.
The property lies within a conservation area, where stricter planning controls apply.
Minutes from a recent council meeting state: ‘The chair raised a concern over the replacement of the conservatory without listed-building consent.’
And they noted that the clerk would ‘report this to planning enforcement’ at Somerset County Council – which has confirmed the issue is being looked into.
‘We can confirm that this matter has been referred to the council’s planning enforcement team and is currently under investigation,’ a county council spokesman tells me. ‘As this is an ongoing case, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage.’
The couple moved into the property last month, having sold their previous 11-bedroom home close to Harry Potter star Rupert Grint for £3.5million earlier this year after choosing to downsize. They also have a flat in Notting Hill, West London.
The couple, who have lived in Somerset for more than 20 years, declined to comment.

Jane Asher: Beatles films won't be fab for me
Actress Jane Asher, Sir Paul McCartney’s former fiancée, has no intention of seeing the forthcoming Beatles biopics in which she is played by Bohemian Rhapsody actress Lucy Boynton. ‘I won’t watch,’ says 80-year-old Jane, explaining that she would inevitably be asked for her verdict.
The Swinging Sixties icon is also unsure how convincingly Lucy, 32, can portray her in Sir Sam Mendes’s four films. ‘Nobody knows what you were really like. I think it’s a funny idea that somebody’s going to pretend to be me. I don’t know what I’m really like. How are they going to know?’

The law of the jungle
Strictly star Oti Mabuse headed into the I’m A Celebrity jungle a year after the birth of her daughter, but comedian Katherine Ryan has different views on mixing showbiz and motherhood.
‘I do have some internalised misogyny,’ Ryan told the Mark Wogan podcast. ‘I don’t believe in a mother leaving her young children for that length of time in any circumstance.’
Ryan, 43, who gave birth last year to her fourth child, says that’s not the only reason she won’t be appearing on the reality show. ‘I’m not interested in eating bugs or slugs.’

Even after more than 35 years, Rufus Sewell has never forgotten the shame of being late for the great Dame Judi Dench. The actor, 58, recalls his mortifying first day of drama school, when he found himself being directed by the legendary actress.
‘I was actually late on my first day – it was very embarrassing. You don’t want to be late on your first day for Dame Judi!’ says The Diplomat star. ‘She was very nice to me about it, but gave me a bit of a ticking-off. I learned my lesson.’
And Dame Judi, it seems, has not forgotten either. ‘She still checks up on me and asks if I’m being on time.’
The smart set's talking about... Jordan Hewson
Bono's elder daughter has followed him into the music business after a relationship break-up prompted her to start writing songs in secret. Jordan Hewson, 37, has just released her debut EP, LED Moon, under the stage name Jordan Joy, swapping her career as a tech entrepreneur for the family business.
‘No one was expecting a record from me,’ Jordan admits. ‘I’ve obviously grown up with music. But it took going through a rupture in my life to be open to songwriting. I started writing songs purely as a survival mechanism.’

Ladies of London stars Martha Sitwell and Kimi Murdoch have little time for men’s sartorial sins when it comes to dating. Short-sleeved shirts ‘repulse’ Lady Sitwell, while brown shoes or belts worn with suits are also no-nos. And shipping heiress Kimi vows never to date a man who hasn’t had a pedicure. Take note, gentlemen!
