Indian teen Anahat Singh’s run at the Silicon Valley Open squash ended after she lost to third seed Sivasangari Subramaniam of Malaysia in the semifinals on Friday.

Anahat took the lead in the match after clinching the first game, but eventually lost 1-3 (11-5, 6-11, 4-11, 7-11) to the World No. 4 Malaysian in a last-four clash which lasted 37 minutes.

This is the Indian’s third loss to Subramaniam, and fourth defeat overall. Most recently, Anahat lost to the Malaysian in the Asian Games 2026 women’s singles final to settle for silver.

Earlier in the tournament, World No. 15 Anahat took down eight-time world champion and top seed Nour El Sherbini in straight games to enter the quarterfinals. Then she beat another Egyptian in sixth seed in Salma Hany in a five-match thriller to enter her maiden PSA Gold-level semifinals.
