After a divisive name change from South Park to South America, season 29's premiere has hit a rare viewership milestone. Variety has reported that the viewership total across Comedy Central and Paramount+ in the U.S. hit 4.2 million viewers in just three days. However, it is a slight drop from South Park season 28, which reached 4.3 million. Season 29's premiere episode scored a 0.97 rating, which is a 33% increase from season 28. South America was the most-watched cable telecast of the week among adults ages 18 to 49.
