The Witcher's Geralt Gets Epic Redesign Ahead Of Official Return

The Witcher fans are officially counting down the days until the release of the new The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt DLC, Songs of the Past, which is now set to launch in 2027 ahead of the release of The Witcher 4. The third full-fledged expansion will put players back in control of Geralt of Rivia, sending the legendary Witcher to the entirely new region of Letten alongside his longtime friend Dandelion.

Players can expect new quests, characters, monsters, and secrets as Geralt investigates the sinister forces lurking beneath the seemingly idyllic countryside, along with new combat options such as a hooked chain weapon. Perhaps most importantly, Songs of the Past is being positioned as one final major Geralt adventure before the franchise moves forward with a new lead character.

CD Projekt Red has explicitly described Songs of the Past as a "trip down memory lane" before passing the baton to Ciri, who will take over as the protagonist of The Witcher 4. That said, Geralt is about to get a fresh new look with an epic return ahead of the DLC release thanks to an unexpected crossover with a beloved franchise (via TT).

Geralt of Rivia is getting a fresh new redesign ahead of his return in Songs of the Past, although this one will take the monster hunter far outside the Continent. As part of a new partnership between CD Projekt Red and Blizzard, a Geralt-themed cosmetic skin is coming to Diablo 4, transforming the Barbarian into a version of the iconic Witcher designed to fit naturally within the dark world of Sanctuary.

The cosmetic is tied directly to Songs of the Past, and once pre-orders for the expansion open on Battle.net, anyone who purchases it through Blizzard's storefront will receive access to the Geralt skin in Diablo 4. Players who wait won't permanently miss out, either, as the same reward will be available to those who purchase Songs of the Past on Battle.net after its full 2027 launch. Pre-orders have not opened yet, however, so the skin currently cannot be claimed.

The promotion accompanies The Witcher 3 finally coming to Battle.net as part of the broader CD Projekt Red/Blizzard partnership. According to TweakTown, the Geralt cosmetic is specifically associated with Battle.net purchases of the expansion, making it an additional incentive for players choosing Blizzard's PC storefront.

It also appears Geralt's trip to Sanctuary is only the beginning, as CD Projekt Red community manager Amelia Korzycka confirmed that the skin "is not everything" and teased additional collaboration content arriving in 2027. Exactly what those crossovers will entail hasn't been revealed, but with The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past also arriving next year, Geralt's newest Diablo redesign should serve as a satisfyingly dark appetizer for his next adventure.
