Immigration to get real-time data access under NIISe

KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department will have access to real-time data sharing with multiple government agencies under the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe), Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.

He said NIISe would gradually replace the existing Malaysian Immigration System (myIMMs), with improvements including enhanced early screening, traveller risk profiling, and real-time data integration and sharing.

"These include the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), the police, Interpol, Inland Revenue Board (IRB), Prisons Department and Transport Ministry," he said in a written reply in response to a question from Rushdan Rusmi (PN-Padang Besar).

Saifuddin said the government currently implemented real-time data sharing and integration through myIMMs, an integrated information system supporting the Immigration Department's core operations.

He said myIMMs was used for immigration control and checks at the country's entry points, including checking travellers' or high-risk individuals' travel documents against Interpol databases.

"To modernise and improve the efficiency of control at entry points, improvements and modernisation of the system are continuously being implemented," he said.

He said the government was also developing the National Border Control System (SKSN) as a long-term plan to strengthen the country's border security ecosystem.

He said SKSN would be equipped with advanced surveillance systems based on artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics to enable unmanned operations, rapid real-time information dissemination and continuous surveillance of Malaysia's land and maritime borders.

"The system is a plan by the ministry and efforts are still ongoing to refine its details," he said.
